We Strive to Solve Our Clients Challenges before, during, and after
Good project management and communication are key areas of focus for our firm. Since the Project Manager is also the Lead Engineer, they are directly involved with the project and responsible for all areas of coordination. Our Project Managers works closely with each client to be certain that issues relating to the project scope, budget, and schedule are clearly understood by all team members.
The project budget (both up-front and life-cycle) is communicated to and then considered throughout the design. Experience with similar projects and systems, estimating guides, and manufacturer’s quotes on major components are all used to establish a base opinion of construction cost. We then work with the client and owner's representatives to prioritize project scope and identify potential bid alternates to attains the maximum amount of scope within the budget.
We evaluate the Project Schedule and establish milestones to be used for progress measurement during design as well as a tool to manage the flow of information between all members of the design team including the client, owner, and occupant representatives. We also work with the client to determine outside influences that may impact the schedule (for example: required continuous use of the facility by occupant, local bid and construction environment, and long-lead construction materials) and then establish methods of managing or minimizing those influences.
A total systems approach is used when designing electrical systems so that all aspects of the design are considered (safety, energy efficiency, constructability, maintainability, flexibility, esthetics). At the same time we keep it simple: The electrical systems should be as simple as possible and still be able to meet the programmatic requirements. Unneccessary complexity increases the possibility of failure and maintenance headaches.
We understand the importance of project esthetics and the role that the electrical systems play in project presentation. Quality Control is built-in through team technical reviews at various milestones and cross team review of design during coordination. Systems checklists and design questionnaires developed over years of design experience are also used.
