Fletcher Miller School – Electrical Engineering for Inclusive Education
Ackerman Engineering, Inc. is proud to be part of the design team for Fletcher Miller School, a new 67,000-square-foot facility within Jefferson County Public Schools, purpose-built for students with multiple and significant physical and intellectual disabilities. This Pre-K through age 21 school represents more than a replacement building—it’s a reimagined environment that prioritizes dignity, access, and empowerment for all students.
As the electrical engineering partner, AEI is committed to designing safe, flexible, and intuitive systems that support the unique needs of both students and caregivers. From lighting systems that reduce sensory overstimulation to power infrastructure that supports specialized equipment and assistive technologies, every electrical component is carefully considered to enhance functionality, comfort, and independence. Lyons Middle/Senior High School – Auditorium Electrical Engineering
Ackerman Engineering, Inc. was proud to partner with St. Vrain Valley School District and the design team to provide electrical engineering services for the new auditorium addition at Lyons Middle Senior High School. The new auditorium was designed to seat 400 audience members and support large performances, band concerts, and community events, while also including targeted renovations to enhance the existing school facilities.
Auditorium spaces are vital to student development, offering a stage for creativity, collaboration, and community engagement. Whether through concerts, theatrical productions, or assemblies, these environments foster confidence, communication skills, and a sense of belonging among students. AEI’s electrical design supports this vision by delivering systems that ensure optimal lighting, sound, power, and life-safety integration—creating a reliable, dynamic venue for education and performance alike.
In addition to the main performance hall, the project included a large lobby, control booth, dressing rooms, scene shop, and restrooms, with careful site planning to seamlessly connect the new auditorium to the school’s existing auxiliary gym. AEI’s commitment to thoughtful collaboration ensures that this new space will serve as a hub of learning, expression, and connection for the Lyons community for years to come.
